About the Organization: Founded in 1970 by a group of volunteers, 360 Communities is a nonprofit organization which provides services to more than 16,000 people annually in over 40 locations in Dakota County, Minnesota. Holistic services include a network of five food shelves, two family resource centers, two domestic and sexual violence shelters, and two programs that support school success from birth to high school graduation.

The goal of this position is to provide support to the Lewis House Supervisor in the delivery of Lewis House services as a 24-hour community resource for families and/or individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect in the community. In addition, this position will assist in ensuring the quality and efficiency of all of 360 Communities shelter based advocacy services.


  • Demonstrate commitment to the agency’s mission statement and core values at all times. The mission statement is “360 Communities builds safety and stability that improves lives.”
  • Maintain safety and security within the Lewis House.
  • Coordinate shelter scheduling with full time and relief staff and ensure adequate coverage for high volume times (support groups, volunteer groups, as well as open shifts). 
  • Lead monthly Relief Staff meetings and work with Lewis House Supervisor on agenda for those meetings.
  • Facilitate weekly case consultation and check in with shelter advocates regarding ongoing case management of shelter residents. Ensure new client intakes are completed, goals and goal progress are track and a follow up plan for departure is created, etc…
  • Coach and mentor relief and full time advocates as it relates to their work. Collaborate with Lewis House Supervisor to discuss training and development needs of staff. 
  • Fill open shifts as needed and work with other lead advocate and Lewis House Supervisor to ensure adequate staffing
  • In collaboration with Lewis House Supervisor, make decisions on house related issues (i.e. move on dates, extensions, conflict in the house, etc…).
  • Assist with training of new staff and interns. Work with Supervisor to update training content as needed.
  • Work with Lewis House Supervisor related to house maintenance issues to assist in seeking quotes for work, scheduling maintenance or coordinating work to be completed. All decisions related to spending for house maintenance will be made by Lewis House Supervisor.
  • In collaboration with Lewis House Supervisor, serve as point of contact for outside partners related to scheduling of on-site services (therapy, public health, LADC, etc…)
  • Assist in supporting staff to maintain accurate data in Client Track for the purposes of communication and statistical data to report to funders and the community
  • Attend and participate in VPI staff meetings. Provide ideas and insights for agendas and trainings to Lewis House Supervisor.
  • Assist with completing daily shift duties in shelter
  • Ensure follow up is completed (shelter-no shows, past residents, OFP no-shows, police reports, etc…)
  • Work in collaboration with client, shelter and outreach advocates for the ongoing follow up plans of shelter residents upon departure. 
  • Work with shelter advocates to respond to the hospital for domestic and sexual assault exams during scheduled work times and/or as directed by supervisor. 
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as the need is apparent or as requested or delegated.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 1-2 years related work experience with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence. Bachelor’s degree preferred, but experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Completion of 40-hour sexual assault certification training preferred.
  • Experience with socially, economically or culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience being self-directed, motivated and ability to demonstrate nonjudgmental professional decision making skills.
  • Secondary language preferred.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and use of database systems.
