About the Organization: Founded in 1970 by a group of volunteers, 360 Communities is a nonprofit organization which provides services to more than 16,000 people annually in over 40 locations in Dakota County, Minnesota. Holistic services include a network of five food shelves, two family resource centers, two domestic and sexual violence shelters, and two programs that support school success from birth to high school graduation.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The goal of this position is to provide leadership in the development and delivery of Lewis House as a 24-hour community resource for families and/or individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect in the community.  In addition, this position will ensure the quality and efficiency of all 360 Communities shelter based advocacy services.

 DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Demonstrate commitment to the agency’s mission statement and core values at all times. The mission statement is “360 Communities delivers safety and stability that improves lives.”
  • Maintains safety and security within the Lewis House.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly training and scheduling of the Lewis House staff.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff (regular/relief) to ensure quality 24-hour holistic services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse and neglect.
  • Contribute to the development of the maintenance and supplies budget, monitor expenditures so that purchasing decisions are fiscally responsible and all monthly and yearly budget and accounts payable requirements are met in a timely manner in partnership with the Director of Programs and Operations.
  • Ensure quality oversight of the shelter regarding maintenance and supply needs that focus on the overall health, safety and security of the shelter; includes organizing and providing work direction to staff, residents, volunteers, residents, and vendors to ensure the building and grounds comply with all codes, licenses, inspections, and ordinances.
  • Ensure that services/activities provided by external partners are organized and of quality.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of best practices for services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse and neglect.
  • Actively participate on the Violence Prevention services team, including assisting with facilitation of staff meetings and trainings.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Coordinators and other leadership staff across the organization through participation in meetings, strategic planning and ongoing communication in order to assure holistic service delivery to clients and beneficial community partnerships.
  • Ensure accurate electronic entry of services for statistical reports, outcome requirements and evaluation processes required by funding agencies and others in cooperation with the Director of Programs and Operations.
  • Provide leadership, expertise, educational presentations and feedback to local law enforcement, social service providers, faith communities, medical facilities, schools and other community partners to ensure effective victim centered response to domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or child abuse and neglect.
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as the need is apparent or as requested or delegated.

Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervise shelter based Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocates, including Relief Staff
  2. Responsible for directing, motivating, developing, evaluating and reviewing staff work.
  3. Managing staff, preparing work schedules, and assigning projects and duties.
  4. Monitoring and controlling resources used by staff.
  5. Interview and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3-4 years related work experience with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence.  2-3 years supervisory experience preferred.  Bachelor’s degree preferred, but experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Completion of 40-hour sexual assault certification training.
  • Experience with socially, economically or culturally diverse populations.
  • Working knowledge of human resources; professional development plans, performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, and corrective action policies.
  • Experience being self-directed, motivated and ability to demonstrate nonjudgmental professional decision -making skills.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and use of database systems.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
