360 Communities and Farmington Lutheran Church have partnered to bring a shopping model food shelf to Farmington this fall. The existing food shelf is undergoing a transformation that will result in an increased ability to serve Farmington families with more healthy choices and additional support.

Over the past several years, 360 Communities increased its healthy food offerings and created a store-like shopping experience for people accessing food shelves. These changes were in direct response to needs identified through client surveys.

Clients want healthy food options and an experience that surrounds them with friends and support. 360 Communities is purposeful about listening to the clients accessing its services and responding directly to their feedback. It has a successful history of evolving its services in order to meet the ever-changing community needs.

With the addition of the Farmington Food Shelf, all five 360 Communities network food shelves will feature healthy choice shopping, where clients can choose their groceries and where making the nutritious food choice is the easy choice.

“We are fortunate to find a partner in Farmington Lutheran Church that shares our vision for serving the community,” said 360 Communities President & CEO Jeff Mortensen. “They will provide a critical volunteer leadership structure that will ensure we can serve the surrounding community in the most impactful and client-centered way.”

“We are thrilled to be entering this partnership with 360 Communities,” said Dr. Jim Ollhoff, President of the Farmington Lutheran Church Council, “The Farmington Food Shelf has always had great support from the local community. We are honored and eager to contribute to the leadership of the food shelf.”

360 Communities and Farmington Lutheran Church are in the process of building the volunteer team for the choice model food shelf. Once the team is in place and the changes to the food shelf layout are complete, service to families out of the FarmingtonFood Shelf location will resume.

In the meantime, 360 Communities will continue to serve Farmington families through other 360 Communities network sites and external referrals.
