Mother and two kidsMother of two faces adversity

Ella and her husband split up after her husband abused her. She and her two elementary school children were traumatized. She was alone, afraid, and uncertain of what to do next. Without financial stability, she fell behind on rent and faced eviction. She worried about her children’s emotional well-being with the dramatic changes in their lives.

Family support worker walks alongside mother

School staff referred Ella to 360 Communities’ Partners For Success® school-based program. Our Family Support Worker, Taunya, contacted her and set up weekly meetings. She immediately partnered with school counselors so the children could access school-based therapy. She listened to Ella’s story, acknowledged her fears, and worked alongside her on a goal-setting plan to secure housing, employment, and financial stability. Taunya connected the family with victim advocates at 360 Communities Lewis House to process what they had experienced and stay safe. Our advocates helped Ella find counseling for herself in the community.

Mother avoids eviction and family gains stability

Taunya assisted Ella in securing rent relief from RentHelpMN and set up appointments at a 360 Communities food shelf. With this support, Ella avoided eviction. She maintained stable employment and provided her children with the necessary safety and stability to thrive. Today, teachers praise the progress the children are making in school. The family recently moved into a more affordable home, and Taunya remains a valuable resource for Ella and her children.
