Burnsville Students Bring Creativity to the Food Shelf
A group of talented Burnsville High School art students is transforming a wall at the 360 Communities Burnsville Food Shelf and Resource Center into a vibrant mural celebrating nature, healthy food, community, and inclusivity.
Under the guidance of instructor Powers, students Elliot, Elena, Isadora, Phinley, Peggy and Melody are creating a joyful scene featuring a diverse group of animals gathered for a picnic, including a special memorial depiction of Ranger, 360 Communities’ first survivor support dog! The mural also includes a river and distant farmland, reflecting the beauty and abundance of the surrounding community.
Phase one of the effort is complete. The project will continue over the next few weeks as the students bring their vision to life.
“This mural will do more than brighten a wall,” said Amara Robinson, 360 Communities Volunteer Manager. “It will help create a warmer, more welcoming space for our neighbors who visit the Burnsville Food Shelf. Art has a way of reminding people that they are seen, valued, and part of a caring community. We are so grateful to these students and instructor Powers for sharing their talents with us.”
