How is the program funded?
Are family support workers the same as social workers?
There are areas of a family support worker position that may be like social work, but family support workers come from a variety of backgrounds related to student success and human services. They receive specific training for all the areas of support they provide to families.
What is the difference between a family support worker and a school counselor?
What kind of donations are helpful to the program to support kids and families?
The program accepts all kinds of donations! Monetary donations are helpful to provide financial assistance to families or to support fundraising for the cost of the program. Gas and Gift Cards are welcomed as a direct way we can give resources to families as well.
How we help
Partners for Success® helps students and families overcome barriers to school success. Family support workers in schools partner with educators and families to support home-based strategies that increase parental involvement, improve academic performance, and connect families to community resources.
Family Support Workers:
- Partner with school staff to identify students who are struggling academically
- Partner with school staff and families to stabilize and improve attendance
- Provide regular communication between teachers and families regarding progress
- Assist families with basic needs (food, housing, safety, community resources, school supplies) that may distract families from focusing on their child’s academic achievement
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure that families and students implement the recommended strategies successfully
- Educate middle school families about the importance of academic success at the middle school level
- Ensure that high school families are aware of graduation requirements, credit accumulation expectations and the progress of their children
