40-Hour Advocacy Training

Learn how to support survivors and prevent violence

What is the 40-Hour Advocacy Training?

360 Communities’ 40-Hour Advocacy Training allows attendees to gain a greater understanding of domestic and sexual violence while equipping them with the foundational knowledge and skills to be an advocate through interactive activities, discussions, and a variety of content.

Topics:

Topics covered in this session include advocacy basics, cultural self-awareness, rape culture, effects of trauma, the criminal justice system, and more.

Format:

There will be a combination of in-person meetings and self-paced, online work.

Attendance at all in-person classes is required to receive a certificate of completion. Opportunities for making up hours are limited due to the interactive and discussion-based nature of the training.

This training meets the mandated 40-hour training requirement for direct service advocates in Minnesota and is required for all volunteers in the Violence Prevention and Intervention program at 360 Communities.

Future Sessions

360 Communities holds its 40-Hour Advocacy Training twice per year in Dakota County, once in the spring and once in the fall. Exact details of upcoming trainings will be posted once finalized. If you are interested in being notified when registration for the next session of this training becomes available, or if you have any questions about the training, please contact the training facilitator, Molly C., at mollyc@360communities.org.
