Statement regarding Burnsville domestic violence killing
Domestic violence has claimed another life in our community. 32-year-old Danielle Warren’s abuser fatally stabbed her, leaving her three children, ages 10, 5, and 9 months, motherless. Our hearts are with Danielle’s friends and family as they mourn this loss and navigate the next steps. We also recognize the impacts of this devastating loss that reach beyond the family to friends, teachers, colleagues, professionals, and our neighbors across Dakota County. Our thoughts are with you all.
As a direct result of the prevalence of domestic violence, our community is suffering. Children are growing up without their parents. Parents are forced to outlive their children. Family and friends have to wake up every day knowing that someone they care about so deeply isn’t coming back. Those who lost their lives are not just a number or a statistic; they are real people who are greatly missed. As a community, it is our responsibility to come together to increase public safety and public health by holding offenders of domestic and sexual violence accountable. To not only be reactive to violence, but to be proactive in how we talk about domestic violence and how we show up for victims/survivors.
