Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
I recently participated in a workshop called Valuing Every Person and was asked this reflective question: “Do you know someone that exemplifies this quality of valuing every person?”
My immediate response was, “360 Communities staff and volunteers.” I witness it every day. They value others as human beings who have strengths and gifts of their own to contribute. What an incredibly powerful attitude and approach!
People want to be heard, valued, respected, and understood. This has been at the core of 360 Communities’ work for 50 years. It promotes strong, trusting relationships, and is critical to supporting people through the duration of whatever hardships they face. This approach of “valuing the person” is uniquely effective in helping people work through challenges and establish goals for a hopeful future.
