Statement on the Chauvin verdict

It is a deeply emotional time.  The guilty verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin provides a momentary relief from the extreme tensions felt by many and provides a sense of accountability.  However, the outcome of this trial will not restore the life taken from George Floyd.  Nor will it fix the systemic racism ingrained in our communities.  Too many families mourn the loss of loved ones from tragedies in our systems.  There is much work to be done.
